Chillers and Refrigerant Disposal
Industrial Refrigerant Reclaiming and Disposal
At Industrial Disposal we offer a wide range of refrigeration decommissioning, reclaiming and disposal services.
We are a licensed hazardous waste carrier broker with a team of Operatives experienced in the safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous gases, combustibles, contaminated and other potentially dangerous substances.
Upon completion of your clearance projects we will provide you with the relevant documentation required of the Environment Agency and the Industry’s Health and Safety Executive.
This will demonstrate that you have met your responsibilities in complying with the safe handling and disposal of any ozone depleting refrigerants or contaminated substances.
We can arrange, for example:
- HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) removal and disposal **
- Air handling units disposal
- Chillers disposal
- Condensers disposal
- Cold rooms disposal
- Cool cabinets disposal
- Fan coil units disposal
- Freezers disposal
- Pub Coolers disposal
- Split units disposal
- VRVs disposal
**HCFC Refrigerants are now banned
HCFCs are mainly used in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
From 1st January 2015 the use of HCFCs was prohibited in any form because of the ozone depletion potential. The ban also includes the use of ‘recycled’ and ‘reclaimed’ HCFCs to top up or service existing equipment.
Gases such as R22 and R408A were banned in 2001, and the use of virgin HCFC’s was banned in 2010, when it also became illegal to manufacture HCFC refrigerants or for suppliers to keep them in stock.
These bans apply to the use of HCFCs for plant maintenance and can no longer be used from previously purchased stockpiles.
For further advice about the decommissioning, removal and disposal of your R22 or other HCFC gases or equipment, please contact us today.
Whatever the quantity of gases, we will supply the appropriate decanting cylinders or storage tanks for their carriage away from your premises to licensed waste management centres where refrigerant is destroyed in an environmentally friendly manner.
Industrial Disposal will provide you with all documentation required to demonstrate that any ozone depleting refrigerants and contaminated substances have been handled safely and in accordance with the stringent regulations set by the Environment Agency and the Industry’s Health and Safety Executive.
We operate industrial refrigerant reclaiming, removal and disposal services around the UK, but primarily in London, Essex, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire. Please contact us to discuss your refrigerant disposal requirements.

Taking care of our environment
Industrial Disposal manages the removal of all contaminated and non-hazardous waste without threat to the environment or human health. Our reporting of the substances we carry will provide codes for all hazardous and non-hazardous wastes in compliance with the List of Wastes Regulations 2005 and the European Waste Catalogue.
The Duty of Care (DoC) legislation in England and Wales requires that we, as a carrier broker, take all reasonable steps to ensure that disposal of controlled wastes does not escape their control and is only transferred to authorised licenced centres. The DoC also requires that waste is described in a way that permits its safe handling by subsequent holders.
Rest assured that Boiler and Plant meet all these requirements.
